En Agosto del 2007 viajé a Chile por vacaciones; fueron cinco semanas muy intensas incluyendo un par de semanas de trabajo y tres semanas de vacaciones con amigos y familia. Al principio siempre estoy nervioso por todo el tiempo que ha pasado sin vernos, pero despues de un momento uno se siente de nuevo en casa muy pronto.

(El año pasado vine a Chile cerca de estas mismas fechas)

In August 2007 I traveled to Chile for holidays; these were five very intense weeks including a couple of weeks of work and three weeks of holidays with friends and family. At the beginning I'm always quite nervous because of all the long time spent without seeing each other, but after a moment you can feel at home very quickly.

(Last year I came to Chile around these same dates)

La primera parada del viaje por Chile fue Valparaíso, donde estudia y trabaja mi hermana. Fuimos ahí dos veces, primero con una familia de amigos catalanes que están de visita y luego con mi madre. Visitamos el Museo a Cielo Abierto, una Casa de Pablo Neruda (en esta foto) y el Museo del Dibujante Italiano Lukas

The first stop of the trip in Chile was Valparaiso, where my sister lives and works. We went there twice, first with a family of Catalan friends that were visiting Chile, and then with my mother. We went to the Open Museum, to one of Pablo Neruda's Houses (in this photo), and to the Museum of the Italian Sketcher Lukas.

Valparaíso es un puerto realmente hermoso, rodeado de cerros. Cada cerro es un barrio, lleno de calles pequeñas y empinadas. Estos ascensores (foto) son un medio tradicional y entretenido de subir. Hay muchos murales, gente, pájaros y rincones.

Valparaiso is a really beautiful port, surrounded by hills. Each hill is a neighborhood, filled with little, steep, streets. These elevators (photo) are a traditional, fun way of reaching them. There are many wall paintings, people, birds, and little corners.

En Machalí, en la sexta región dos horas al sur de Santiago, visitamos a mi padre y su madre, mi abuela (foto). El lugar donde vive mi padre es un lugar bello y tranquilo entre los cerros. Su casa es muy bonita y llena de color.

In Machali, in the sixth region two hours south from Santiago, we visited my father and his mother, my grandmother (photo). The place where my father lives in is a beautiful and peaceful place among the hills. His home is very pretty, filled with color.

Luego fuimos a San Vicente de Tagua Tagua, donde viven los padres de Fabiola. Además de intentar (con éxito) cortar leña, pasamos días muy relajados junto a la chimenea comiendo sopaipillas (foto) y otras cosas ricas.

Then we went to San Vicente de Tagua Tagua, where Fabiola's parents live. Besides trying (succesfully) to chop wood, we spend very relaxed day by the fireplace having sopaipillas (photo) and other good stuff.

Mi único tío vive en el norte de Chile, 6 horas en automóvil al norte de Santiago. Estuvimos en su casa el fin de semana con la familia extendida reunida.

My only uncle lives in the north of Chile, 6 hours by car north of Santiago. We spend the weekend at his place with all the extended family together.

De vuelta en la zona centro de Chile, fuimos a El Tabo con varios amigos a pasar un buen fin de semana.

Back in the central zone of Chile, we went to El Tabo with several friends to spend a great weekend.
